Jockey to the Fair (DOWNLOAD)
This recording has been created to supplement my teaching of the Old Style Repertoire; for the enjoyment of dancers and teachers alike.
I have brought it to the fore now as many of the students from my solo dance classes have asked for recordings and sheet music of this dance specific repertoire.
Summary - you will receive an mp3 file of Jockey to the Fair set dance, twice through the tune, with an 8-bar intro. A download for your use only - Copyright © Annette Collins 2021
I believe my arrangements to be a product of my love of the piano, my experience as a dancer and my understanding of the dance specific repertoire. They have received great reviews from other teachers of Old Style dance, see below.
For those of you who are interested in learning this repertoire, come and join me in dance. Drop me a line to voice your interest and I will add you to my distribution list for further information, beginners welcome.
I am currently working towards a CD of dance tunes, as a sneak preview, I decided to make an initial three pieces/recordings available for download/purchase: The King of the Fairies, Jockey to the Fair, The Garden of Daisies.
You can find a trailer advertising my first three set dance arrangements on the Piano page of this website.
I had the following response when I sent them to other dance teachers for review:
"Annette's arrangements are a welcome addition to anyone who enjoys traditional sets.
Learners will benefit from her sensitive approach and light touch, making these recordings a pleasure to dance to, while those teaching will appreciate the tempos and thoughtful arrangements with correct lengths for the old-style sets. Annette has brought her expertise as a dancer to this collection of set dance pieces, making them a delight for listeners and movers alike."
- Jackie O'Riley, Boston
"Listening to this majestic piano music has brought back fond memories of my ‘festival’ dancing days and has inspired me to re-unite with a few guys who also danced at the ‘festivals’. We all recall the dance music from Patricia Mulholland (violin) and Margot Brown (piano). Annette has managed to achieve a perfect execution of these wonderful Set Dance pieces; you really want to take to the floor and dance along to this melodic sound!"
